Training FAQs

To operate drones commercially in the UK, you must complete a CAA-approved training course and gain a General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC). Our training course includes both the GVC theory exam and practical flight assessment, so you’ll be fully equipped to apply for CAA Operational Authorisation.

Yes. Our training is delivered by CAA Recognised Assessment Entity 6245, meaning it meets the latest regulatory standards for legal commercial drone operation in the UK.

The course takes place over  days and includes classroom learning, hands-on flight training, and a final flight assessment. Pre-course eLearning is also provided to help you prepare at your own pace.

No previous qualifications are needed, but we do recommend some basic flight familiarity. Whether you’re a beginner or already flying, our expert instructors will guide you through every stage.

You’ll train using the XAG P100 Pro, one of the most advanced agricultural drones on the market. The course covers setup, autonomous operations, safety checks, flight drills, and routine maintenance of the aircraft.

You can fly commercially right away under AutoSpray Systems’ own authorisation, giving you a fast-track to work without needing your own OSC or permissions. Alternatively, you’ll be able to apply to the CAA for your own Operational Authorisation, once you’ve passed your assessments.

Yes. After booking, you’ll receive a digital training pack that includes your syllabus, checklists, flight logs, site survey templates, airspace guidance and other reference materials to support you during and after the course.

Our courses are hosted in partnership with agri-drone facilities across the country. Currently, this includes Harper Adams University in Shropshire and QuadRotor Services (QRS) in Cheshire. You’ll find the location of each course on the booking page. Full venue, parking, and arrival information will be sent to you in advance of your course start date.

We are actively expanding our network of partners and will soon be offering courses in other regions, including the South and Scotland.

Yes. Once you’ve completed the course you’re able to operate legally and professionally using AutoSpray’s authorisation right away or apply for your own Operational Authorisation from the CAA.
