Beyond Restoration: Peatland Success in the North Pennines

We have spent recent weeks in the North Pennines, successfully spreading sphagnum moss to degraded areas of peatland as part of the ‘Beyond Restoration’ project. As we prepare to wrap up this landmark collaboration with the National Trust, Woodland Trust and North Pennines National Landscape, we are delighted with the achievement.

Over the last few months, we have truly put our tech and our team to the test. Through 3:00 am starts, hundreds of miles on the road, and the most challenging weather the UK could throw at us, we have stress-tested our systems to prove exactly what they can deliver. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable input of our collaborators and the tireless support of the AutoSpray Pilot Network members who joined us on-site to ensure every mission was a success.

We have demonstrated the efficacy of these conservation operations. As the project wraps up, our focus shifts to what happens next. With tens of thousands of hectares across the UK ready for peatland restoration and reforestation, the commercial market is established – and our pilots are the ones ready to lead it.
