It has been a landmark start to the summer here at AutoSpray Systems.
While show season is in full swing, our main focus remains behind the scenes – doing the heavy lifting in data and regulation to redefine what is possible in UK agriculture and land management.
Whether you are looking to invest in technology, diversify your contracting fleet, or discover how autonomous application solves your costliest field challenges, here is your July briefing.
Webinar: Unlocking High-Margin Shading & Cleaning Services
As commercial operators look to diversify beyond traditional agricultural work, non-chemical applications in amenity, infrastructure, and protected environments represent a massive revenue stream. Anyone interested in entering this space is welcome to join our upcoming technical webinar for the AutoSpray Pilot Network:
-
The Session: Applying the Lumiforte Range by Drone
-
When: Tuesday, August 4th 2026 at 12:00 PM BST
-
What you’ll learn: How to tap into fast-growing markets like solar array optimisation, polytunnel maintenance, and glasshouse shadingahead of peak autumn demand. One pilot in our network recently cleared £12k in a single week on shading alone.
Landmark Summer Trials Underway
We are very pleased to share that AutoSpray Systems has been granted a series of exclusive and specific trial permissions by the CRD for the 2026 season. We are officially underway with live field trials for weed control on hazardous terrain, fungicide applications in potatoes, insecticides in horticulture, and pre-emergence weed control in cereals.
This data-gathering exercise is a vital milestone on our roadmap toward wider commercial pesticide approvals in the UK. We can’t reveal all the details just yet, but the momentum is strong and extremely encouraging.
Reflecting on The Scottish Game Fair
A huge thank you to everyone who visited us at The GWCT Scottish Game Fair earlier this month. It was fantastic to connect with so many land managers, contractors, and conservationists.
The enthusiasm for drone use cases in complex terrain, game management, and habitat forestry was exceptional – proving once again that autonomous technology has shifted from a novelty to an essential estate tool.
The Future of Reforestation with the Woodland Trust
The future of woodland creation will not always start with a spade. In remote, steep, or sensitive landscapes, manual planting is slow, labor-intensive, and physically damaging to the ground. We have just published our latest project video showcasing our work with The Woodland Trust at College Valley. Using the XAG P100 Pro, we demonstrated how native seed mixes can be established quickly and precisely on sensitive ground without a single footprint.
The SFI Opportunity: Why Farmers Need Drone Services Now
The Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) is completely reshaping farm profitability in England. Andy Sproson, AutoSpray COO, recently published a comprehensive guide breaking down exactly how autonomous seeding and precision application fit into the latest SFI actions – and why land managers are actively seeking drone contractors to secure these payments.

What are the Most Profitable Agri-Drone Applications?
New entrants always ask us what hardware they should buy. We tell them to start with the problems, not the aircraft. To give you a clear picture of the commercial margins available right now, we have published a resource outlining the five highest-value drone applications in the UK.
